Specializing in Individual Treatment, and Couples Therapy

The Treatment Process
The Treatment Process

Treatment will start with an individual or couple evaluation, during the evaluation we will review your biological, psychological, and social history and any other information which you feel will help me better understand your current situation and need for therapy. Then we will work together to begin forming your goals for treatment. My goals are to use your strengths and resilience and identify barriers to change, combined with my expertise, to result in successful outcomes and gaining the skills you need to continue to succeed.

After the evaluation treatment can either be in an individual or conjoint format.  Treatment will typically last 12 sessions or less to reach reduction in symptom distress which initially brought you in for therapy.  If your treatment goals involve more than 12 sessions, additional sessions may be needed and will be discussed as treatment progresses. Individual and conjoint sessions will last 45-50 minutes.

I offer a wide range of clinical specializations to help you find happiness and success in life. I have been trained and am prepared to help you address various relationships issues, whether they are communication challenges, intense marital problems, separation and divorce issues, parent-child frustrations, or issues involving your family. My goal is to help you learn the skills necessary to have intimate and fulfilling relationships. Change is possible if you have a desire to learn and apply the skills and knowledge you will acquire through participating in therapy.

Many people feel unhappy and disconnected from themselves and the people they love. If you are wondering if there is anything you can do to strengthen yourself and your relationships, there are answers. New coping skills can help you see yourself and your relationships differently. It's never too late to look at your life differently and change what's happening in your world.

Whether your challenge is a stuck relationship, understanding and relating to teenagers, extended family issues that keep you from enjoying people you love, and past trauma that continues to intrude and cause distress. I can help

As a father of four with a marriage of nearly 24 years, I bring a wealth of experience with family challenges and the realities of what happens in marriage and family relationships. I can help you develop personal skills and self-acceptance that will contribute to relationship strength and family resiliency.

I believe individuals who have PTSD or experienced trauma in their lives have the ability to heal emotional wounds, repair relationships and create a fulfilling life. Together we will explore your core values and beliefs. We will identify why you feel stuck in order to create new and healthy patterns within your life and recover from the trauma you have experienced. I will help you find a balance of mental, physical and emotional health. I am committed to helping you experience positive change and have a greater sense of personal strength. I offer evidence based trauma focused therapy which will help increase symptom relief and lifelong coping skills to better manage emotions and improve relationships with others.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where we work together to alleviate emotional pain and promote personal growth. My desire is to journey with you to find peace in the process. I offer a safe environment that empowers you towards meeting your personal goals. Expect a confidential, relaxed and compassionate atmosphere.

I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy. CPT is a therapy process that helps clients become unstuck from past experiences that have manifested disorders such as PTSD. This therapy is usually 12 sessions. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavior Conjoint therapy for PTSD. CBCT-PTSD is a conjoint therapy to also reduce symptom distress from PTSD and other traumas while improving relationship satisfaction. This therapy is usually 15 sessions.

Individual Therapy
Individual Therapy

I have successfully helped individuals, couples, and families find happiness in life. I believe everyone has the power to change. However, we often get stuck. Over the years I have participated in peoples amazing transformations as they become unstuck and regained their satisfaction and fulfillment, have healthy relationships, and overcome trials and other problems. I've found that everyone I've met with in therapy can change and be happy.

I approach therapy primarily from an interpersonal perspective, which views healthy relationships as key to emotional and psychological functioning. I strive to help my clients gain insight into the dynamics in their life that contribute to feelings of fear and sadness. I believe that therapy should be a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience, and I work to push clients outside of their comfort zone to create real change in their lives. I also help clients move away from avoidant ways of dealing with stress in their lives and toward strategies that increase self-esteem and provide their lives with meaning.
